چکیده

Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is demonstrated using a piece of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) in conjunction with a Bismuth-based erbium-doped fiber (Bi-EDF) as the gain media with a simple ring resonator. The proposed BFL operates at wavelength of 1574.08 nm, which is 0.08 nm shifted from the Brillouin pump wavelength with a maximum peak power of 8 dBm. The BFL has a side mode suppression ratio and 3dB bandwidth of approximately 23 dB and 0.02 nm respectively limited by the optical spectrum analyzer resolution. The BFL is also stable at room temperature and compact due to the use of only 20m long of PCF and 215 cm long of Bi-EDF. Corresponding author: S. W. Harun ([email protected]). † S. W. Observation of Raman Gain in Reduced Length of Bismuth Erbium Doped Fiber

Raman amplification of a 49 cm Bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) as a nonlinear gainmedium based erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is reported in new and compactdesign in near infrared spectral regions. The bismuth glass host provides theopportunity to be doped heavily with erbium ions to allow a compact optical gain fiberamplifier design by using reduced fiber length and the 1480...

CHARACTERIZATION OF STIMULATED BRILLOUIN SCATTERING AND Bi-EDFA AS A CONVENTIONAL BRILLOUIN FIBER LASER

Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) is one of the nonlinear process that can occur in optical fiber if the input power at low level [1,2]. It is a natural scattering process associate to the propagation of light in a medium. Due to the interaction of light with the propagation medium, different scattering components are generated: Rayleigh, Brillouin and Raman component. The resulting scatter...

Distributed feedback multimode Brillouin–Raman random fiber laser in the S-band - IOPscience

A novel S-band multimode Brillouin–Raman random fiber laser based on distributed feedback of Rayleigh scattered light is demonstrated. It relies on a short length, 7.7 km long angle-cleaved dispersion compensating fiber in a mirror-less open cavity. Two 1425 nm laser diodes at a modest operating power amplify a Brillouin pump (BP) signal, which in turn generates a multi-wavelength laser output ...

Experimental Study of Lasing Characteristics of Brillouin/Erbium Optical Fiber Laser

A lasing charactrization of a Brillouin/erbium optical fiber laser (BEFL) is experimentally discussed. In the BEFL, an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) is incorporated into the Brillouin laser resonator to enhance small Brillouin gain, which makes the configuration of the Brillouin laser resonator easy and flexible. The experimental results show that the output power of the BEFL has a thresh...
